This time of year it’s easy to get overwhelmed by how to navigate all the Christmas parties you’ll be attending and although we’re the first ones to tell you that enjoying yourself during the holiday season is really okay, we thought that providing a few tips will still be helpful.
First be sure to eat healthfully during the day and don’t forget to hydrate. Bringing a dish you know you’re comfortable with eating will take the pressure off you and your host, particularly if you have dietary restrictions. When it’s time to fill your plate, start with the fruits and vegetables and other healthy choices, and keep in mind appropriate serving sizes. Especially if you’re at your work Christmas party, go light on the alcohol. Alcohol will add on the calories and also limit your ability to resist temptations and embarrassing behavior. Then pick a person you love chatting with or one you don’t know well and enjoy good conversation.
Want to take a healthy appetizer to your next party? Here are some easy ideas:
Tortilla chips and guacamole (So easy to make at home! Avocados, garlic powder, little salt & pepper and your favorite salsa)
Spinach Salad (Add tomatoes, feta cheese & dried cranberries with an oil and balsamic vinegar drizzle)
Gluten Free Flatbreads
Hummus & Veggies
Caprese Salad Kabobs
We’d love for you to comment and share your favorite healthy holiday appetizers!
