James and Poly met in 2015 while staffing a missionary base in Chico, CA. After hanging out for a couple of months they had to take different paths but continued to date by distance for about 2.5 years. James was born and raised in the biggest littlest city and Poly was born and raised in the greenest city of the world located in the south of Brazil. Poly recently became an American citizen and she says it's an honor to be welcomed as part of this amazing nation. They got married in 2017 and since then they have been living in Reno. Now they’re a family of 4 with two kids…that happen to have fur! Snoop is a year and a half Corgi. He is the sweetest! He enjoys cuddles and midday naps! Koda is their 8-month old, 98 pound Alaskan Malamute, her thing is laying on top of the AC vent and noshing on strawberries! They are both super buddies and the Unruh’s love how both dogs are exactly like them, they both know when it's time for a nap!
James and Poly are youth leaders in Portola CA and one of their favorite things to do together is working out and loving Jesus! But as much as they enjoy doing a lot of things together, Poly loves SHOPPING! It's her thing! She loves a good bargain and mid-year sales. James is an artist and loves to share his heart through lyrics and to have a good time in the music studio. They have been gym rats for a while but they were looking for a Crossfit gym. One of their dearest friends used to be part of CFA. After their first class they had no doubt that this family was the right place for them. They love the unity and support toward each other, the dynamics of the workouts and the fellowship with one another. They always feel so welcomed.
The Unruh's are getting ready to start a new adventure and move to Fort Worth, Texas this coming 2022! For right now, it's a temporary move, only for 12 months but they never know where God will take them. As a family they take each step at a time, always with faith, a bunch of joy and they trust that their dreams are taken care of.
